Californians: Vote on Tue June 5!

Or, voting is real.

For me, it’s weird that there is an election on Tue, June 5 (NEXT TUESDAY) in California. For most of my life elections have been in November. But, lot’s of things are different here in regards to voting:

If, you need them, you can find the official guides for California and SF here:

https://sfgov.org/elections/whats-on-the-ballot and plenty more info here: https://sfgov.org/elections/

You can also find your SF polling place and sample ballot:

http://sfelections.org/tools/pollsite/index.php

Tha sample ballot is particularly cool, because you can make choices, print the sample ballot out, and know how to fill it in ahead of time!

Not in SF, but still in Bay Area? Get your detials here: https://www.sfgate.com/elections/article/California-primary-elections-June-5-vote-by-mail-12911417.php

And if you want to get REALLY deep: https://ballotpedia.org/California_elections,_2018

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_elections,_2018

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_gubernatorial_election,_2018

There are, of course, plenty of opinions.

I always like the league of Pissed Off Voters

The SF Chronicle has a voting guide:

https://projects.sfchronicle.com/2018/voter-guide/

And, there is the League of Women’s Voters:

I’m going to do my own research, do some thinking and be an informed voter. If you have some strong opinions, or got other sources, I’d love to know! Send me an email with your thoughts?

My mom asked me if I was going to have any watermelon on Memorial Day. I wasn’t planning on it, but then I remembered I had frozen some watermelon chunks. Threw them into the blender, with some lemon tea, and got what was mostly a no sugar added all fruit watermelon slurpee!

Look at the amazing lamp that my friend M.M. makes in his spare time! I love the shapes, materials and the general flair his pieces have! Want one? Let me know and I’ll let M.M. know!

You got anything you are working on? Let me know and I’ll try to add it to the newsletter!

How to be a Cheap Skate, literally.

I recently walked in to the Oakland Ice Center for the first time. It’s a large nondescript building, with an entrance that’s a bit hidden. I had my expectations of what an ice rink was, and  I wasn’t disappointed: dark interior that has inspiration for 70’s industrial entertainment, and cold crisp air.

I looked at their pricing sheet, and it seems every Tuesday Night from 7 - 8:30 is their  Cheap Skate night, where entry and rental is just a cool $12.50.
